British Titanic Society - Titanic Exhibition

The British Titanic Society is pleased to announce the

Titanic Exhibition

Exhibits, sales and memorabilia stalls featuring
Titanic and her sister Olympic.

To be held at
The Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue, Southampton.

9.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday 4th April 2009.

Entrance Fee is £3.00, with concessions at £2.00.

In 2009 Southampton commemorates the 97th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic. During their return to Southampton for their Annual Convention, the British Titanic Society is opening their Titanic Exhibition to the public.

There will be Exhibits, sales and memorabilia stalls featuring the Titanic and her sister Olympic, a display of paintings by well known Titanic artists and various lectures. 9.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday 4th April 2009 to be held at The Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue, Southampton.

 Members of the British Titanic Society - from the UK, Europe, Canada and North America - will gather for a weekend of fellowship, learning and remembrance of that fateful April night, 97 years ago, when the world’s largest steamship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on her maiden voyage, and sank with the loss of 1523 lives.

Exhibition Timetable, Saturday, 4th April – 9.00am – 4.00pmAn Exhibition of Titanic and Olympic memorabilia will be held at the Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue, from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Visitors will be able to see various items connected with these two great sister ships, including some actual fittings from RMS Olympic.

Titanic experts will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be a series of lectures during the day.  The lecturers will be:- Terry Madill from Belfast will present a lecture, “Titanic Belfast 2010 – the Celebrations Start Early  (11.00am – 12.00 Noon)

Ron Hancock from the Marine Department of Associated British Ports will talk about how they get the big ships ion and out of Southampton, both present day and in 1912. (12.30pm – 1.30pm)

World renowned authors and historians, John P Eaton & Charles A Haas will be flying in from the USA to present “Titanic New York: Highways and Byways” revealing new details of the ship’s New York connections. (3.00 – 4.00pm)

The British Titanic Society has launched “The Millvina Fund”. This is a fund which has been set up to accept donations worldwide toward the Care Home costs of Titanic’s sole remaining survivor, Miss Millvina Dean.  Miss Dean is the Honorary President of The British Titanic Society and the fund will be administered internationally.
